Tiree (Scottish Gaelic: Tiriodh) is the westernmost island of the Inner Hebrides and falls administratively under Argyll and Bute. About 650 people live there. The main town is Scarinish. The Gaelic name means: "land of grain".
Tiree and Coll are located west of the Isle of Mull in the open Atlantic Ocean and are known for their relatively large number of hours of sunshine, especially in early summer, compared to the rest of Britain.
Tiree has an area of 78 km². The highest point is Ben Hynish at 141 meters. Besides Scarinish there are two more villages, Hynish and Sandaig. There are many farms due to the fertile soil. In addition, people live from fishing and tourism.Building of the Lighthouse
