Plaques in General
Many of the NLB lighthouses have a plaque that makes the lighthouse in question uniquely recognizable. These lighthouse plaques are designed as a cast Bronze or Stainless Steel (316) plaque.
These plaques contain the NLB crest under which the name of the lighthouse is stated. In addition, the Admiralty number is shown. This Admiralty number represents the national naval mark of the lighthouse. An explanation of the importance of the lighthouse and a telephone number are also provided where possible irregularities can be reported. The NLB's email and website are also indicated.
The drawing below shows the two different versions. On the left the Stainless Steel version and on the right the Bronze cast version. Although it does not apply to every lighthouse where a plaque has been placed, the preferred location where these plaques should be mounted is also indicated.
